The energy of the future in PACA region
The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is THE region where the energies of the future are designed, tested and developed.

Historically, hydraulic and fossil energy were the support of the regional economy. More recently, this region became leader of the photovoltaic solar energy production. Today, the whole range of energies is developed here, making up the energy mix of tomorrow.

Thanks to the shared know-how of the regional economic players of the high-tech economy: microelectronics, optical systems, sea technologies…, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region hosts the energy revolutions of the future.

For example:
- ITER is the most important international cooperation for a nuclear fusion research program,
- Megasol: the French platform to test photovoltaic solar farms,
- Premio: the 1st European smart-grid,
- Astrid: experimentation of the nuclear fission 4th generation
- Capenergies: a competitiveness cluster for energy generation with no greenhouse gases, 500 members among which the major players of the energy sector.

The region concentrates the most up-to-date international skills of the energy sector.

This fruitful environment gave birth to international cooperations between research organizations, companies, training centers.

Public institutions are supporting the sector with incentive policies and huge investments that create new markets for companies.

In the end, since the future for energy production is located in the South-mediterranean  countries, in particular for solar and wind energy, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region is the ideal front door for investors.
